Ingredients
2 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best)
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 large egg
Vegetable oil for frying
Powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar for dusting
Instructions
Prep the apples – Peel (optional), core, and slice apples into 1/4-inch rings. Pat dry with paper towels.
Make the batter – In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt. In another bowl, mix milk and egg, then combine with dry ingredients until smooth.
Heat the oil – Pour about 2 inches of oil into a deep skillet and heat to 350°F (175°C).
Dip & fry – Coat each apple ring in batter, letting excess drip off. Carefully lower into hot oil and fry 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown.
Drain & dust – Place on paper towels to drain, then sprinkle generously with powdered or cinnamon sugar.
Serve warm – Best enjoyed fresh for that crispy crunch and gooey apple center.
