Description

Light, airy, and hauntingly sweet — these Ghost Meringues are a melt-in-your-mouth Halloween favorite. With just a few ingredients, you can whip up a spooky dessert that’s boo-tiful on a platter and devilishly simple to make!

Ingredients

Scale

4 large egg whites (room temperature)

1 cup granulated sugar

½ tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp vanilla extract

Melted chocolate or mini chocolate chips (for eyes)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 200°F (95°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Whip meringue: Beat egg whites and cream of tartar until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, beating until stiff, glossy peaks form. Add vanilla and mix to combine.

Pipe ghosts: Transfer meringue to a piping bag with a round tip. Pipe tall ghost shapes onto the baking sheet, pulling upward to create the classic wavy tip.

Add eyes: Dot on melted chocolate or press in mini chocolate chips for eyes.

Bake low & slow: Bake for 1.5–2 hours until dry and crisp. Turn off oven and let meringues cool inside with the door ajar for best texture.
