One-Pan Bold Honey BBQ Chicken Rice

One-Pan Bold Honey BBQ Chicken Rice

This dish reminds me of backyard cookouts turned into cozy kitchen meals. Smoky, sweet, and just a little spicy, it brings all the best BBQ flavors into one skillet—no grill needed. It’s hearty, saucy, and soul-satisfying, all with the simplicity of one pan. Perfect for those nights when you want big flavor and fewer dishes.

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast or thighs, diced

1 cup long-grain white rice

1 cup BBQ sauce (honey or smoky style)

½ onion, chopped

2 garlic cloves, minced

2 tbsp olive oil

2 cups chicken broth (or water)

Salt and pepper, to taste

Optional: 1 tbsp honey or hot sauce (for added sweetness or heat)

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, sauté until fragrant.

Add diced chicken, season with salt and pepper, and cook until lightly browned.

Stir in rice, BBQ sauce, and broth. Add optional honey or hot sauce if desired.

Bring to a boil, then reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 18–20 minutes until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.

Let rest 5 minutes, fluff with a fork, and serve warm.

Notes

A one-pan wonder with BBQ boldness—this meal is as easy as it is unforgettable.
