Description

Elevate the classic grilled cheese with a gourmet twist of basil pesto, fresh mozzarella, and crispy bread.


Ingredients

  • 2 slices of rustic bread (sourdough or ciabatta)
  • 2 slices of fresh mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons of pesto sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients and slice your rustic bread about ½-inch thick.
  2. Spread a layer of pesto on one slice of bread and layer with fresh mozzarella and Parmesan.
  3. Soften butter and mix in garlic powder; spread it on the outside of both slices of bread.
  4. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwich for 3-5 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Flip the sandwich and grill the other side for another 3-5 minutes until browned and melty.
  6. Remove from the skillet, let rest for a minute, then slice and serve with marinara sauce if desired.
