Ingredients
For the Danishes:
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
4 oz cream cheese, softened
2 tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg (for egg wash)
For the Strawberry Swirl:
1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, diced
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water
Optional Glaze:
½ cup powdered sugar
1–2 teaspoons milk or cream
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
In a saucepan, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice. Simmer until soft, then stir in cornstarch slurry. Cook until thickened. Cool slightly.
Mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
Unfold puff pastry and cut into 6 squares. Score a border inside each square, being careful not to cut through.
Spoon cream cheese mixture into the center of each square, then add a swirl of the strawberry compote.
Brush edges with beaten egg.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden.
Cool slightly. Drizzle with glaze if desired.
