Description

Delicious homemade English muffins, perfect for breakfast. Toast them and enjoy with butter, eggs, or jam!


Ingredients

  • 4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 cup Warm Water
  • 2 ½ teaspoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • Cornmeal (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast by combining warm water and honey, sprinkle yeast on top, and let it sit until frothy.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients by whisking together flour and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Combine the yeast mixture with dry ingredients and olive oil, stirring until the dough comes together.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. First rise: Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Shape muffins by rolling out the dough and cutting out circles.
  7. Second rise: Let cut muffins rise for another 30 minutes.
  8. Cook the muffins on a griddle over medium-low heat for 6-8 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  9. Cool on a wire rack before toasting and serving.

Feel free to add herbs or cheese to the dough for variations!
