Description

A cozy and comforting dessert made from leftover bread soaked in a creamy custard, topped with rich caramel sauce.


Ingredients

  • 6 cups Bread, cubed (any type, stale works best)
  • 4 large Eggs
  • 2 cups Whole Milk
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Caramel Sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Prepare the custard mixture in a large bowl by whisking together eggs, whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla.
  4. Combine the bread with the custard mixture, folding gently.
  5. Assemble in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layering with caramel sauce.
  6. Bake for 45-55 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool for 10 minutes before serving.
  8. Serve warm with extra caramel sauce and ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For an extra crispy top, place under the broiler for a minute at the end of baking.
