Description

A delightful homemade peach jam that brings summer sunshine to your breakfast table.

Ingredients

  • Fresh Peaches (about 4-5 cups peeled and chopped)
  • Granulated Sugar (about 2-3 cups)
  • Lemon Juice (1/4 cup)
  • Pectin (1 package, usually 1.75 oz)
  • Water (1/2 cup)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your peaches: Wash and peel the peaches, chop them into small pieces, and place them in a large pot.
  2. Mash the fruit: Use a potato masher or fork to achieve your desired jam consistency.
  3. Combine the ingredients: Stir in the granulated sugar and lemon juice, letting it sit for 10 minutes.
  4. Add the pectin: Mix the pectin with water according to package instructions and add it to the peach mixture.
  5. Cook the jam: Place the pot over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring gently for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
  6. Test for doneness: Spoon a small amount onto a chilled plate; if it wrinkles when pushed, it’s done.
  7. Jar it up: Transfer the jam to sterilized jars, filling them with about 1/4 inch headspace.
  8. Process your jars: If storing long-term, process the jars in a water bath for 5-10 minutes.
  9. Cool and store: Allow jars to cool completely and store in a cool, dark place.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with sugar levels and try variations like peach ginger or spiced peach jam.
