Description
A delightful homemade peach jam that brings summer sunshine to your breakfast table.
Ingredients
- Fresh Peaches (about 4-5 cups peeled and chopped)
- Granulated Sugar (about 2-3 cups)
- Lemon Juice (1/4 cup)
- Pectin (1 package, usually 1.75 oz)
- Water (1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Prepare your peaches: Wash and peel the peaches, chop them into small pieces, and place them in a large pot.
- Mash the fruit: Use a potato masher or fork to achieve your desired jam consistency.
- Combine the ingredients: Stir in the granulated sugar and lemon juice, letting it sit for 10 minutes.
- Add the pectin: Mix the pectin with water according to package instructions and add it to the peach mixture.
- Cook the jam: Place the pot over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring gently for 10-15 minutes until thickened.
- Test for doneness: Spoon a small amount onto a chilled plate; if it wrinkles when pushed, it’s done.
- Jar it up: Transfer the jam to sterilized jars, filling them with about 1/4 inch headspace.
- Process your jars: If storing long-term, process the jars in a water bath for 5-10 minutes.
- Cool and store: Allow jars to cool completely and store in a cool, dark place.
