Instructions

  1. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk them together until well blended.
  2. Incorporate Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Combine Wet and Dry: Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently with a spatula.
  4. Knead Your Dough: Lightly flour your countertop and turn the dough onto it. Knead gently for about 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. Let it Rise: Place your dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour.
  6. Roll and Cut: Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface and roll it out to about 1/2 inch thick. Cut out circles.
  7. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  9. Drain and Dust: Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on a paper towel line. Dust generously with powdered sugar.
