Description

A delightful twist on the classic Middle Eastern dessert, these Protein Pistachio Kunafa Cups combine crispy phyllo dough with a creamy filling and a nutty topping for a healthier, indulgent treat.


Ingredients

  • 1 package phyllo dough
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup protein powder
  • 1/4 cup confectioners sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup pistachios, chopped
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rose water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the phyllo dough by unfolding it and covering with a damp cloth.
  3. Brush one phyllo sheet with melted butter, layer another sheet on top, and repeat the brushing.
  4. Cut the layered dough into squares and press them into a muffin tin.
  5. Bake the phyllo cups for about 10-12 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Mix together cream cheese, protein powder, confectioners sugar, milk, honey, and rose water until smooth.
  7. Fill the cooled phyllo cups with the creamy filling.
  8. Sprinkle chopped pistachios and drizzle with honey or dust with confectioners sugar before serving.

Notes

These kunafa cups are best served fresh but can be stored in the fridge for a few hours before serving. Bring to room temperature before enjoying.
