Ingredients
- Fresh Peaches (4 cups)
- Granulated Sugar (2 cups)
- Lemon Juice (1/4 cup)
- Pectin (1 package)
- Water (1/4 cup)
- Optional Spices (like cinnamon or ginger)
Instructions
- Prepare your peaches: Wash them under cool water, cut in half, and remove pits.
- Chop and mash: Chop the peaches into small chunks.
- Cook the peaches: Combine peaches, sugar, and lemon juice in a saucepan; heat until sugar dissolves.
- Dissolve the pectin: Mix pectin with 1/4 cup of water, then add to peaches; bring to a boil.
- Boil and thicken: Boil for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
- Can your jam: Ladle hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving 1/4 inch headspace.
- Seal and store: Place lids on jars, let cool to room temperature.
Notes
If your jam doesn’t set, re-cook with more pectin. Homemade peach jam can last up to 1 year if properly sealed.
