Description

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • ½ cup baking soda
  • Ham slices
  • Cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-8 minutes.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 60 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Roll the dough into 12 equal pieces, shape them into ropes.
  7. Wrap ham and cheese around each rope and pinch to seal.
  8. Boil water with baking soda and dip each pretzel for 30 seconds.
  9. Remove and place on a baking sheet.
  10. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with salt.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
