- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 ½ cups warm water
- ½ cup baking soda
- Ham slices
- Cheese (cheddar or Swiss)
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a large bowl.
- Add warm water and mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-8 minutes.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it, and let it rise for 60 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll the dough into 12 equal pieces, shape them into ropes.
- Wrap ham and cheese around each rope and pinch to seal.
- Boil water with baking soda and dip each pretzel for 30 seconds.
- Remove and place on a baking sheet.
- Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with salt.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
