- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
- 2 tablespoons maple syrup (plus extra for serving)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- Butter or oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Prep the custard mixture by whisking together the eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
- Soak each slice of bread in the custard mixture until just coated.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter, adding a drizzle of oil.
- Bring on the bread and cook the soaked slices for about 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Plate the French toast and top generously with toasted pecans.
- Drizzle additional maple syrup over the top and serve immediately.
