Description

Ingredients

  • 1 package of pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup warm water (about 110°F)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon baking soda
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Optional toppings: pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, olives

Instructions

  1. Mix the warm water and sugar in a large bowl. Stir in the active dry yeast and let it sit for about 5–10 minutes until bubbly and frothy.
  2. Combine 3 cups of flour and salt in another bowl. Gently fold the activated yeast mixture into the flour mixture.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Form the dough into a ball, place it in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 60 minutes.
  5. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) while bringing about 10 cups of water to a boil, adding the baking soda once boiling.
  6. Roll the risen dough out into a rectangle about 1/2-inch thick and transfer to a greased baking dish.
  7. Cut the dough into strips and boil them in the baking soda water for about 30 seconds before placing them back in the dish.
  8. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough and top with shredded mozzarella cheese and any desired toppings.
  9. Bake for about 15–20 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes
