A delicious fusion of French onion soup and crispy tater tots, layered with gooey cheese for a comforting meal.

- 32 oz bag Tater Tots
- 4 large Yellow Onions
- 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
- 2 cups Beef Broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1.5 cups Gruyère Cheese, shredded
- 1 teaspoon Thyme, fresh or dried
- Salt & Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat in a large skillet.
- Add sliced yellow onions and stir occasionally to coat in butter. Cook for 20–25 minutes until caramelized.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 2 cups of beef broth; simmer for 5-10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Spread tater tots on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until crispy.
- Layer crispy tater tots in a baking dish, top with caramelized onions, then with shredded Gruyère cheese.
- Bake in the oven for an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley before serving.
Notes
Pair with a side salad and a glass of red wine for a perfect meal.
