French Onion Tater Tot Melt

Description

A delicious fusion of French onion soup and crispy tater tots, layered with gooey cheese for a comforting meal.


Ingredients

  • 32 oz bag Tater Tots
  • 4 large Yellow Onions
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1.5 cups Gruyère Cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon Thyme, fresh or dried
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Melt 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat in a large skillet.
  3. Add sliced yellow onions and stir occasionally to coat in butter. Cook for 20–25 minutes until caramelized.
  4. Stir in 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce and 2 cups of beef broth; simmer for 5-10 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  5. Spread tater tots on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until crispy.
  6. Layer crispy tater tots in a baking dish, top with caramelized onions, then with shredded Gruyère cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for an additional 10–15 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish with fresh thyme or parsley before serving.

Notes

Pair with a side salad and a glass of red wine for a perfect meal.
