Description

Delightful bite-sized lahmacun bites bursting with flavors of spiced ground meat and fresh herbs, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • ¾ cup Warm Water
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 pound Ground Lamb or Beef
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • ¼ cup Tomato Paste
  • ½ cup Fresh Parsley, chopped
  • Cumin, to taste
  • Paprika, to taste
  • Black Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine the warm water and olive oil. If using yeast, let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy. Gradually add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
  3. Prepare the topping: In a bowl, combine the ground lamb (or beef), onion, garlic, tomato paste, parsley, and spices. Mix until evenly combined.
  4. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  5. Roll out the dough: Divide into 12 pieces, roll into balls, and flatten to about ¼ inch thick.
  6. Assemble the lahmacun bites: Place rolled dough on a baking sheet, spread the meat mixture on each, leaving a small border.
  7. Bake: Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden and meat is cooked through.
  8. Serve & enjoy: Let cool for a minute, serve warm, and top with herbs or yogurt sauce if desired.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, substitute meat with finely chopped vegetables and crumbled feta.
