Description
Delightful bite-sized cake pops filled with cheesy goodness and savory ham, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cooked ham, finely chopped
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 1 cup mashed potatoes (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1/4 cup ranch dressing (optional)
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix the filling: In a large bowl, combine the finely chopped ham, shredded cheese, mashed potatoes, cream cheese, Dijon mustard, and black pepper. Using a fork or a spatula, mix until well combined.
- Form the balls: Wet your hands slightly, take a generous tablespoon of the mixture, and roll it into a ball, about the size of a golf ball.
- Refrigerate: Chill the formed pops in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape when cooking.
- Breading the pops: Set up a breading station with breadcrumbs and ranch dressing (if using). Dip each pop in ranch then roll in breadcrumbs.
- Fry the pops: In a heavy-bottomed pot, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil. Carefully drop the cake pops into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain and cool: Remove the fried pops and let them drain on a plate lined with paper towels.
- Serve and enjoy: Plate the pops with your favorite dipping sauce and serve warm.
Notes
Consider adding vegetables for extra nutrition, or try different types of cheese for varied flavors. These can also be air-fried for a healthier version.
