Ingredients

  • 2 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, sourdough, or gluten-free)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 slices of bacon or 1 sausage patty
  • 1 slice of cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or pepper jack)
  • a few leaves of lettuce or spinach
  • 1 slice of tomato
  • Butter or oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Grab your bread slices and heat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter or oil and toast each side until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Toss in your bacon or sausage and cook until crispy, about 4-6 minutes.
  3. Push the meat to the side and crack the egg into the skillet; cook until the whites are set, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Assemble the sandwich with bacon (or sausage), cooked egg, cheese, fresh greens, and tomato between the toasted bread slices.
  5. Press down slightly on the sandwich in the skillet for about a minute to melt the cheese.
